A ‘Portrait’ of the Sweet Life

For as frightening and unpredictable as the world can be, it is important to be reminded that it can also be just as kind. In February, we travelled to the idyllic coastal city of Naples to tell the story of a slower, more serene way of life—one that moves no faster than the heart beats.

The result was ‘Ritratto’, or ‘Portrait’, a unique video project shot in collaboration with renowned director Massimiliano Bomba, featuring some looks from our recently released men’s and unisex collection.

In essence, the three-minute film is a tribute to la dolce vita, recounting the sensations and experiences of domestic bliss both in and outside the home.

As the story unfolds, we lay witness to the magic of the mundane, the extraordinary potential of the most ordinary moments, and the sublime sophistication of simplicity.

Understated yet elegant, humble yet fabulous, these scenes resonate with the alluring contradictions of Frankie’s signature aesthetic and its poignant duality.

From on-screen to in-store, the essence of the film inspired the theme for The Frankie Shop’s grand debut at La Samaritaine, the famed Parisian retail destination.

To celebrate this much-anticipated pop-up, we welcomed friends and family for a special aperitivo, where they enjoyed refreshments and delicacies prepared in partnership with a local Italian bakery, all while browsing an exclusive capsule collection created in honour of this special residency.

Guests also took home special goodie bags, which included a silk scarf inspired by the design of Amaretto Candy, an ‘Arrivederci’-emblazoned cap, and of course, a baba au rhum shipped directly from Italy.

The pop-up space is currently open to the public until early 2023, but if you can’t make it to Paris, we welcome you to watch the film and shop some of the styles of our exclusive capsule collection online.
